Would like to report what looks like a bug with later firmwares.
My SterlingKey was working fine with my Keyboardio Atreus keyboard until I updated the firmware to version 2.0.0.
After initial pairing with PC running windows 10 the following steps causes SterlingKey to no longer work:
1.Touch the sensor until 3 vibrations and SterlingKey (SK) turns off (LED all goes dark).
2.Touch sensor once, SK vibrates once and turns on. At this point keyboard works fine.
3. After a second or so SK vibrates again although the touch sensor is not touched.
4. After another second or so SK vibrates yet again although it is untouched.
5. Keyboard no longer works. Windows indicates SK is paired and connected but key presses no longer register.
I tried going back firmware versions and found that the same issue can be reproed with version 2.0.0, 1.3.0, and 1.2.1. If I go back to version 1.2.0 then this issue is fixed. Now I can power cycle the SK without the extra vibration and the lost of connection.
Thanks.
Pairing no longer works after power cycling
Re: Pairing no longer works after power cycling
Hey, thanks for reporting the issue. As Im currently not at home, could you have a look on other threads to see how to turn on logs and send them to me? Let me know if you need any assistance, you can also join my discord server if youd like. It will be easier to troubleshoot. Link is at the homepage of the forum, thanks!
Re: Pairing no longer works after power cycling
I will try to get the log as soon as I have time. I found the instructions for enabling it but cannot find anything else about it in the forum. Is the log always printed ? If yes, where is the location of the log output ?
Should I keep the sterling key connected to the PC (SK-s usb-c to PC) while it is also connected to the keyboard (SK's usb-a to keyboard) to view the log ?
Thanks

Re: Pairing no longer works after power cycling
1. Connect SterlingKey to your computer through the type-c port of SterlingKey, and connect your keyboard to the type-A port
2. Access updater
3. Under Console, click on Start
4. A popup will appear where there will be one device, select that
5. After a few seconds, the connection will be established
6. Type "set debug 1" and click enter
7. Click Reset
8. This should restart the device and might trigger the same issue
9. If it doesnt occur, try manually restarting as the steps you mentioned earlier
So the logs are always outputting in realtime at the console in the updater page. Keep all cables connected

MMOexp Breaks Down the Faction System in Dune: Awakening
The universe of MMOs continues to expand with ambitious new titles that promise immersive worlds, intense gameplay, and expansive social experiences. One such highly anticipated game is Dune: Awakening, an open-world MMO set in the iconic sci-fi universe of Frank Herbert’s Dune. Developed by Funcom and published by Netease, Dune: Awakening aims to blend survival, base-building, resource management, and large-scale PvP warfare within the harsh deserts of Arrakis.
In this article, MMOexp takes an in-depth look at Dune: Awakening, covering its gameplay mechanics, unique features, lore integration, and why it is poised to make waves in the MMO community.
Introduction to Dune: Awakening
Dune: Awakening is a massive multiplayer online game that transports players into the dangerous and politically charged world of Arrakis — a desert planet famed for its spice melange, the most valuable resource in the universe. Players assume the roles of Fremen warriors, mercenaries, smugglers, or noble houses vying for control of territory, resources, and influence.
The game combines survival mechanics with MMO staples such as character progression, crafting, clan systems, and large-scale PvP. Its open-world sandbox approach encourages players to explore, forge alliances, and engage in complex social dynamics while managing threats both environmental and hostile.
Immersive Open World and Environmental Challenges
One of the core appeals of Dune: Awakening is its expansive open-world design. Arrakis is depicted in stunning detail — vast deserts, rocky canyons, and dangerous sandstorms set the stage for survival. The environment itself is a key gameplay element. Players must contend with:
Harsh climate conditions: Extreme heat and sandstorms that affect visibility and stamina.
Sandworms: Massive creatures that roam the desert sands, capable of devouring players and vehicles. Avoiding or confronting these behemoths adds a thrilling risk-reward dynamic.
Resource scarcity: Vital resources like water and spice must be carefully managed and contested.
These environmental factors create a tense and immersive survival experience that distinguishes Dune: Awakening from many other MMOs.
Deep Crafting and Base-Building Systems
Survival in the desert demands preparation and ingenuity. Dune: Awakening offers robust crafting and base-building mechanics that allow players to:
Gather resources such as minerals, wood, and spice to create tools, weapons, and vehicles.
Construct and upgrade bases with defensive structures, storage facilities, and crafting stations.
Customize bases to reflect your faction or clan’s identity and strategic needs.
Base-building is essential not only for shelter but also as a hub for production and defense against rival players or NPC threats. The crafting system encourages exploration and cooperation, requiring players to trade, gather, and work together to thrive.
Engaging PvP and Faction Warfare
PvP (player versus player) combat lies at the heart of Dune: Awakening. The struggle for control over spice-rich territories drives much of the player conflict. Key PvP features include:
Territory Control: Clans and factions fight for control over strategic locations, influencing resource access and in-game economy.
Siege Warfare: Large-scale battles involving fortifications, siege engines, and coordinated clan tactics bring epic conflict to the deserts.
Vehicle Combat: Players pilot various vehicles, from speeder bikes to armored transports, adding mobility and tactical depth to engagements.
Stealth and Ambush Tactics: The desert environment allows for stealth-based gameplay, enabling raids and surprise attacks.
This intense PvP ecosystem fosters player cooperation and rivalry, contributing to a dynamic and ever-changing world.
Rich Lore and Story Integration
Dune: Awakening isn’t just an MMO set in a sci-fi world — it is deeply rooted in the lore and universe of Dune. Players encounter references to the original novels, characters, and factions that enrich the game’s narrative layer.
Factions: The Great Houses, the Fremen tribes, and the Spacing Guild are present, each with distinct roles and motivations.
Narrative Quests: While much of the game is sandbox, narrative missions immerse players in iconic conflicts and events.
Cultural Detail: From the unique desert survival tactics to the religious and political intrigue, the game faithfully captures Dune’s complex world.
This strong narrative integration helps the game appeal to fans of the franchise and MMO players seeking meaningful story content.
MMOexp’s Take: Strengths and Areas to Watch
As an MMO-focused platform, MMOexp recognizes several standout strengths in Dune: Awakening:
Innovative Survival MMO Hybrid: Combining survival mechanics with MMO features creates a refreshing and engaging gameplay loop.
Stunning Visuals and Atmosphere: The detailed environments and dynamic weather effects enhance immersion.
Player-Driven Economy and Politics: The game’s open-world PvP and faction warfare encourage player agency and emergent gameplay.
Regular Content Updates: Developers have promised ongoing expansions and quality-of-life improvements to keep the game evolving.
However, MMOexp also notes potential challenges:
Steep Learning Curve: The survival and crafting systems may be daunting for newcomers unfamiliar with such mechanics.
Balancing PvP and PvE: Ensuring that both player versus environment and player versus player content receive equal attention is crucial.
Server Stability: Large-scale battles and open-world interaction require robust servers, which can be a technical hurdle.
